The psychological archetypes of filial piety originates from the natural emotional interactions between parents and children. The family serves as a crucial core and starting point for individual social life, as well as the primary environment for emotional support and socialization processes. Therefore, the emotional bonds within families are essential for individual psychological and emotional development. Emotional interactions contribute to positive outcomes such as well-being and autonomy, while also inhibiting negative emotions. This study conducts a literature review based on the dual filial piety model and well-being, organizing journal studies from the past 20 years to investigate the impact of filial piety on well-being. After examining those articles, the findings suggest that well-being is broadly defined, including emotions, subjective well-being, interpersonal interactions, and family relationships. Overall, the relationship between dual filial piety and well-being is multifaceted, involving mediation and moderation effects. Regarding correlational studies, dual filial piety shows significant correlations with individual wellbeing, with most results indicating a positive correlation between reciprocal filial piety and well-being, while authoritarian filial piety exhibits positive, negative, and non-significant correlations with well-being. Further research could delve deeper into the underlying mechanisms and cultural disparities.
